The Cormorant Pub & Restaurant, Portchester

Douglas & Diane McEwen and their team welcome you to The Cormorant in Portchester’s Historic Castle Street, a conservation area in the Borough of Fareham, in the shadows of Portchester Castle. We hope you enjoy your experience in our traditional British Pub.

We would be delighted to receive any comments, good or constructive, in order that we may build upon and improve our business.

Our Suppliers

We are proud to be able to support local business and we source the majority of our ingredients and products from suppliers within a twenty mile radius of Portchester.

Our Fresh British Meat & Fish – MR Starr Butchers

M R Starr’s of Emsworth are a traditional family run butchers in the High Street in Emsworth. Run by Mick Starr and his wife Lou, they are assisted by their two sons Paul & Neil along with Peter and Roger. We have been using Starr’s for over 12 years now as they are not only superb butchers and fishmongers but have quality and customer satisfaction at the core of their business, as we do.

Our Fresh Seasonal Vegetables – The Fruit Basket

The Fruit Basket is again a family run business. Gary and his team pride themselves on sourcing locally grown fruit and vegetables – sometimes delivering to us on the day the produce has been picked!

Our Fresh from the Farm Dairy Produce – Bere Dairy

Robert from Bere Dairy at Offwell Farm in Portchester Lane Southwick supplies most of our dairy products including ice cream, local cheeses, butter, milk and cream. Every day their small dairy takes the wonderful milk from the cows grazing in the surrounding fields to the dairy. One of those Dairy Farmers, Roger, lives just down the road in Castle Street. From hand squeezing lemons for their lemon sorbet to making their own sauces from fresh fruit for seasonal flavoured ice creams, this local dairy take the freshest milk from the local Hampshire countryside and we bring it to your table to enjoy.

Real Ales

Doug held the Fullers Master Cellarman accolade for 5 years whilst at The Golden Lion in Fareham. His ales are Cask Marque accredited and he also gained entry into CAMRA Good Beer Guides. So why not try a real beer to go with your food. Don’t be shy in asking for a sample to try. We always keep a good range, as well as regularly introducing “guest” ales.
